closet (2015)

closet was a 20-minute duet created and performed by myself and Kopano Maroga. the performance was created after a research period where we swapped wardrobes for two weeks. we documented the experience through journals and made a zine out of the journals. the performance explored topics of gender identity, dress, costume and embodiment.

we performed ‘closet’ at “Embrace Tiger Return to Mountain” exhibition, curated by Alma Martha at Central Methodist Mission in Cape Town on 4 august 2016 and at “On the Roof Dansfestival” at Zinnema in Brussels on 23 february 2018.
