horoscopes for capricorn season (21 dec 2025 – 20 jan 2026)
Capricorn, like its fellow cardinal signs of Cancer, Libra and Aries, is a sign that is tied into the cycle of the sun and the length of day and night.
in the northern hemisphere the first day of Capricorn season is the winter solstice (shortest day, longest night) and in the southern hemisphere, the summer solstice (longest day, shortest night)…
… Aries and Libra, on the other hand mark the equinoxes, when day and night are equal in hour. all cardinal signs begin a new season in the four season system of a year.
Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign and is associated with the planet Saturn. Capricorn is also a nocturnal sign, associated with more introverted, internal qualities. it is often has vision and ambition in the way of cardinal energy, but through a modality that emphasizes quiet, subtlety and steadiness.
like its planetary ruler, Saturn, Capricorn is also concerned with time, longevity, systems, structures and integrity. whether you live in the northern hemisphere or southern hemisphere, Capricorn season is always a good time to consider your internal world and the structures that maintain it. it is also a good time for reflecting and editing, embracing stillness and quiet as a strategy for forward motion.
Capricorn likes to preserve, conserve and make things last. perhaps this is connected to Saturn’s awareness of scarcity or lack. understanding what’s missing is a vital part of growing something. in this way, i often see Capricorn energy present in spaces of critical politics and activist or organizing work. Capricorn can see what is missing in the system.
something i always want to remind Capricorn energy is the serious necessity of joy. joy is a way of maintaining and developing the assets of what criticality can bring to any given society, body or structure.
for this season’s horoscopes, i have included a song and prompt for each sign. i encourage you to move, dance, sing – activate your body with this song and let it be an anthem as you navigate the transition into a new year and the solstice, which brings a change of light. remember the critical remedy of joy and be disciplined with your lightness.

in the words of everyone’s favourite Capricorn, Sade, love is indeed stronger than love. this period is such a time of concentrated energy, like a ball of cement vibrating in the pit of your stomach. there could be joy, stress, tension, overwhelm, relief – any manner of conflicting emotions. but nothing of what you’re feeling could possibly be stronger than the mysterious logic of love. this season you have direct access to something that can bring repair and a healing touch of softness. all you have to do is soften your hands, soften your solar plexus and reach over to receive. receiving is a vulnerable act of courage. listen to “Love is Stronger than Pride” by Sade and sway as softly and slowly as you can, allowing something hard inside of you to melt into something else that becomes a door to something new.

capricorn season is always an ending for you, in more than ways one. it’s a deeply internal moment that asks for a kind of letting go. lay yourself to bed and listen to El Perro del Mar’s gorgeous cover of Prince’s “IWD4U“. contemplate all the ways in which you are not… you’re not this and you’re not that. you’re just not. consider how magical it is to be “not”. point at yourself in the mirror and sing the words ‘i would die for you’ directly to yourself. and as you do so, feel the whole of humanity in the tip of your finger – how self-love stretches out into other-love. turn your attention to things you would die for, the beings, entities and individuals that you love so strangely and so deeply, that you’re willing to let go of everything for something to continue.

listen to “Party Time” by Sandy B and find a groove in your body that accompanies the song. feel how there is something both a little weighty as well as flowy in the music, in your body. feel how the song asks you to bend your knees and get a little lower to the ground. feel how there is a joy that doesn’t peak, it just maintains. ask yourself what kind of joy do you have the discipline to not ask more or less of, but to just maintain? you don’t have to have the answers right, you can simply continue. remember that you are not who you were two years ago. you’ve grown in meaningful ways and even the growing pains can’t take that away from you. give yourself a party time, let it be understated and profound.

the particular ways in which you make other people a little uncomfortable is incredibly important to society as a whole. i wish this to be something you understand and feel with your whole body. capricorn season can always feel a little tense or exhausting for you, but it can also feel vitalising, reconnecting you with your long term goals. there is a conflict of pace that can be generative and fertile – give yourself permission to plod along steadily and then become deeply frustrated and explode with spontaneous sounds or erratic gestures. do this multiple times a day. watch the music video for “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie. which monster, face in the crowd, collapsing building do you most identify with? we are so glad you are here with us. dramatically cry out and drop to the floor alongside Freddy and David’s desperate call for love.

create a nest for yourself out of soft things and curl into the most comfortable position you can find. if you can, put on headphones and listen to “I Feel Like Giving You Things” by ML Buch. let the harmonic voices carry you right down to the very floor of the floor, find the bottom and then go deeper, let it be a pilgrimage to the habits of your being, to the quiet of your flesh. once you’re there, consider the things that you have been given. let them be as abstract or concrete as they need to be. stay at the bottom of your nest, and consider if any of these things you have been given might be hidden guides or compasses, ready to take you to a place (either internal or external) where your beliefs can be more fully embodied. as you surface, forget everything with the trust that what needs to be remembered will be remembered. then go in search of something you want to give yourself.

you really are on the precipice of change. you got a taste of it in July, but it’s coming back for a friendly explosion in May of 2026. for now, throughout Capricorn season let yourself go dark – become curious about darkness and the unseen. consider the fact that most of your body’s matter is entirely invisible to yourself; organs, blood, muscle, bone – all that vitality is well-suited and functioning on the other side of sunlight. what other types of aliveness live beneath a surface? invite a kind of quiet dimming to be your companion and listen to “Let’s Be Quiet Together” by Horses & Not Waving as you settle into something dark, be it closed eyes or a night-time walk. relish the quiet and rest your eyelids before you pop into an entirely bright new way of being.

you’re right at the midpoint of something, and going back now would take as long as it would take to arrive at the new place. so just keep going. with one eye ahead and also giving some space for looking back, it’s time to confront and be confronted. let those who you are in relationship with mirror back a critical point, a necessary pivot, a challenging realization that can set you up well, despite the aches, for the next chapter of the journey. feel the regular and upbeat flow of “Father Time” by Kendrick Lamar ft. Sampha whilst a wave emotions flow through your deepest griefs. whether it’s daddy issues, or other kind of issues, now is the time to slowly start applying language to your emotional depth.

be cautious of the ways in which you can make overwork and exhaustion look glamorous or desirable. and at the same time, be deeply proud of all the work you have done this year. all the gods know it has not been easy. a lot of the benefits and gifts of your labour are still out of sight, but they’re on their way towards you. by the middle of next year you’ll be feeling infinitely more able to integrate the changes that have been uprooting your system. for now, focus on taking care of your body, thank it for carrying you through all sorts of efforts and tasks and for communicating with you so reliably (even if you’re not a fan of what it’s trying to say). you may not be feeling particularly victorious, but take time this season to do a little victory lap to the song “Work” by Iggy Azalea and remember how your solar plexus contains all the wisdom you need to continue.

even though it’s still a kind of confusing period of gentle chaos and mundane exhaustion, something about this season is asking you to get very committed to play, to love, to the kind of concentration children assign to games – an innocence and delight in playing just for the sake of the game itself. permit yourself to be soppy and romantic, with your friends, lovers, family but especially with yourself. be nostalgic and cheesy as much as you need to be, as much as you feel like. trust the ways in which you are committed to love as a structural frame for life. listen to “WENA” by Anatii as you drift along fantasies about what kind of sweet gestures you want to remain wedded to.

what is home? this question comes slow for you, and perhaps not so easily. it is a thing you feel in your bones and take very seriously, even though on some days it feels like home is a thing that is endless work, perhaps even lonely work. but you are much too entangled in the world for loneliness to keep you in its grip for too long. this season, listen to “The Anchor Song” by Björk and imagine that you are held by currents, which you may not understand but are still pathways that (despite a certain weight) are guided by trust. imagine the currents within your blood and muscles, your fleshy physical system – they know their routes and journeys. envision your bones as an anchor. your body is your home, let yourself be carried by the materiality of your skin and trust that you can be your own anchor.

tis the season to get ritualistic with language. whatever religious beliefs or hurts you may carry, something about capricorn season asks you to reconfigure your relationship to the act of prayer. whether it’s a wish-list or a love poem, perhaps simply a recitation of all that enrages you or an ode to your discontents, let something about the strange holiness of language’s melodies and rhythms open up a doorway to how belief can provide nourishment. write, speak, read – but whatever you choose, trust that diving in and climbing through the depth of the power of language will eventually bring you to a kind of light that heats and heals. listen to “Flame Lily” by MA.MOYO, Cerys Matthews & Hidden Orchestra on a stalk around your neighborhood as you prepare to turn yet another corner.
sagittarius
let yourself feel funny, let yourself feel sad. play “I Want a Little Sugar In My Bowl” by Nina Simone really loud as you slow dance in the dark. be as pathetic and dramatic as you need to be as a mixture of grief and desire drip off your body like caramel. it’s always good to know what you want, even if you can’t have it, even if you’re not allowed it or you know it’s bad for you. just knowing your desires and perhaps where they come from, is already its own kind of power. you are wrapping up a pretty tough season that has gone on for way longer than what you were expecting. be proud of what you’ve gone through and mourn any missing moments of sweetness as you present your longings to the room.
