haunting (and other ephemera)

“haunting” is a porous and unfolding project that serves as a loose frame for my mostly-solo performance practice. it is an ever-ripening somatic, spiritual and intellectual endeavour to affectively practice interrupting normative temporality and being, within the social ecosystem that is modernity/coloniality.

in other words, it is an often-incoherent project and place where i practice turning myself inside out and looking beneath / under / behind the narratives that shape(d) me and that i shape.

this work formally began in 2017 when i relocated from cape town to berlin. residing in a colonial “centre” as opposed to a “periphery” provided me with different perspectives of coloniality and modernity. from 2017 until about 2024, i was mainly occupied with learning how to comprehend colonial legacies and cultivate awareness around imperial thinking. during this time, the vocabulary of “haunting” and “ghosts” worked as a useful frame to describe my experiences of living in a big capital or central point of a dying thing that is still alive (aka modernity/coloniality).

since 2024, my language and thinking about this work has been changing. i currently find myself slowly incorporating my astrological practice with my decolonial studies, driving mainly by the questions of how the sky acts as a navigational/orientational tool and how narrative or storytelling acts as a navigational/orientational tool and if, within this space of sky and story, alternatives to modernity/coloniality might be imagined.

but simply put, this is the part of my website where i keep my solo performances, and their residues, archived.
